Choosing and vetting

Working out which places are worth the money, and which to walk away from.

The single most common question here is some version of: is this one real, or is it marketing? People post the itinerary, the price, the suspiciously glowing testimonials, and ask the room to sanity-check before they pay. It is exactly the second opinion I wish I had had before my first few bookings.

Retreat wants FULL payment upfront and no refunds, is that normal or a scam started by Marta Lindqvist, Jun 9, 2026

What the room keeps flagging

Read a stretch of these threads and the same warning signs surface again and again: cure promises, talk of flushing out toxins, staff whose qualifications no one can quite find, and the supplement counter waiting at the end of every session. Regulars have learned to treat any one of those as a reason to keep looking, not a detail to weigh against nicer photography. The red flags when choosing a wellness retreat guide is the checklist that most of these conversations end up reinventing.

The other recurring lesson is about money. People arrive assuming the headline figure is the price, and leave the thread having learned to ask what the extras, the treatments and the transfers actually add up to. The real cost of a wellness retreat piece exists because this section kept having the same conversation.

None of this is a verdict on any specific place, and no one here can tell you a programme is safe for your particular health situation. That question is for your own doctor. What the room can do is help you spot the tells before your deposit is gone.
